Fall Decorating

Trying to get past the fact that another summer has come to and end and we will soon be having those long, cold dark days of winter.Before we get there though we get to enjoy a Virginia fall which is my second favorite season.  I was able to decorate around the house for the first time this year and had lots of fun coming up with new ideas.  Nothing over the top.  I think just enough to acknowledge that fall has arrived.     Updated: Mom came over a few days after this post and contributed this BEAUTIFUL fall arrangement that she made using pine cones from our woods. It was the perfect addition to what we already had.  I just love it!

Finally a Yard

We weren't able to plant seed or sod when we moved in last December so we had hydro seed this spring. Of course once we did we then had the rainiest May in history so we were afraid most of it washed away but glad to report that much of it has sprouted and while not thick and knowing we will need to seed and over seed again this fall it is a start.I just love this house more and more!

My Looking Up View

Sometimes I just have to pinch myself to remind myself that we are so lucky to live where we live and have this view to look up to so often.  

Landscaping begins

Since Guy had his surgery this spring we knew we would not be able to get flowers planted so we decided to create a "potted" gardent his year and then in the fall we will plant bulbs and seed. I think it turned out very pretty.. Now to keep them alive :)

Sprucing Up The Joint

Spring has finally arrived at the bluff and it is time to get our first bushes into the ground.We went very traditional in the choice so as to blend well with the farmhouse theme.  Guy dug all the holes:

Fire on the Bluff

Looks like it but actually it's just a beautiful winter sunset behind the trees and reflecting onto the flooded field by the house.
