Belle Isle State Park - Part III: Boating on the Rappahannock

Not all state parks rent boats so when we found out that this was one of that does we decided to go ahead and explore Rappahannock River from the waterside. You go to the camp store to pay your rental fees, get your paddles and life jackets and then follow a park ranger to the boat launch where the actually trailer it into the river for you and tie it to the dock. This is where the funniest event of the entire weekend happened.  After the boat was in the water and tied up we climbed in.  I sat in the front area and Guy sat in the middle as this boat had a middle console for steering.  The seat for the driver is actually a metal cooler with a cushioned seat.  It is suppose to be welded to the base of the boat, but in this case it wasn't and before we even unhooked from the dock Guy had sat down, leaned back and bang, he is on his back, with his feet up in the air.  Poor Guy was so embarrassed and I didn't help matters because I just could not stop laughing, my sides were sore from laughing so hard and I believe there was a threat to throw me overboard. The look on the park rangers face was priceless, I am not sure he felt at all safe letting us take the boat out. After we composed ourselves we had a wonderful few hours on the river.  The water in the inlets was silky smooth and like glass but the main river had a breeze blowing and was very choppy. No worries though as the bouncing of the boat and the spray of the water on my face is one of the many things I love about boating.

Our New Visitor

So a few days ago Guy calls me to tell me we have a new visitor who looks like he is going to stay for a while and he sends me this picture.  Yes this young man/lady has learned to leap from the porch to the finch feeder, turn upside down so as to hold on and enjoy a tasty meal. He is so comfortable that I was able to walk all the way up to the window and video him.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMR-hjJOrGsThe feeder, it gets moved ASAP says Guy.

July 4th Weekend Camping

Guy took me camping in an RV for thh very first time this past July 4th weekend.  We went to BethPage Campground and Resort in the Northern Neck where we met up with some of his family and our friends.  It was a great weekend and I really liked camping with air conditioning haha.BethPage is a Camping styled resort so there is a swimming pool, boat ramps, putt putt golf course, a ice cream dairy and golf carts, lots and lots of golf carts.  It's a place you go with friends and family.  Lots of fun during the weekends but in the off season I think it could be boring as the life of the resort are the people who ar there just to have fun and relax. There was certainly a lot of interesting people watching (like the bug eating lady), we will leave it at that :)A few photos from the trip:
Here is a video of what the resort travel trailer lots are like.  There were row after row of campers, definitely several hundred throughout the entire grounds.  Everyone we met was so nice and welcoming, it was like meeting lots of old friends.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gro4ToYk8_Iand a few of the permanent trailer/homes.  I love the amount of detail and fun folks put into decorating themhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Pz46PHkS9wI can't wait to be able to use the camper again soon.  Such fun!
