Belle Isle State Park - Memorial Weekend Camping Trip

Guy and I headed back to our very favorite Virginia state park for the Memorial Day weekend.  When designing this park  they did a excellent job of laying things our so even while the park was crowded (it was a holiday weekend after all) you really feel you are alone and its why we keep coming back.Riley was with us this trip and on our very first walk of the weekend, I looked up over the site across from us and I saw a bald eagle just enjoying the sites  This was the first time I had seen one not on the water and so glad I had the camera with me.Not a bad way to start the camping trip. Saw this Bald Eagle resting in the trees above the campsite. We made plans to rent a boat on Saturday and head out onto the Rappahannock River.  I just love that these are available and so reasonably priced.  This would be Riley's first ever boat ride and as you can see he loved it :)
We finished the day by walking down to the river and observing one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seenA perfect ending to a perfect weekend.A perfect ending to a perfect weekend.A perfect ending to a perfect weekend. We got up early the next morning, cleaned up the site, packed up and sadly headed home knowing we had a perfect weekend and knowing we would be back here soon.

Start of our Camping Season

Just back from our first camping trip of the season.  We returned to Belle Isle State Park as we just love it there.  Small, quiet, beautiful park along the Rappahannock River. The weekend weather started out with rain but after out first night it changed to clear skies and beautiful weather. Wildlife was plentiful including a Bald Egles nesting above our campsite, over 30 ground hogs (yes we counted), deer, rabbits, and birds, so many birds. It was a perfect start to our spring/summer.Next up a week camping in the Outer Banks! So excited I could burst LOL
