Winter Swamp just waiting for spring....just like the rest of us.
Winter Swamp just waiting for spring....just like the rest of us.
My workday became a date day with Benjamin. Can’t think of a better way to spend a Friday then a grand-baby asleep on your shoulder. Sure beats going to the office.
The purple finch is not native to our area and so I was lucky to grab this photo of such a beautiful female as she rested at our feeders. I am assuming she has started her migration home..

Best Saturday date ever! Took Avery with us today to the Richmond RV show. She is just so much fun to be with! Can't wait until Benjamin is old enough to join us for these dates.
I left work later by about 15 minutes on a cold, cloudy and had been rainy late afternoon. On the way home I had to stop for a few things at the store which put me about 40 minutes later than normal driving down a country road close to my home. I could see through the trees that the sun was setting and the sky was bright red but as I came around the corner, I saw a sunset like I had never seen before. The only camera I had with me was my iPhone but I wasn't not going to take a photo so I pulled over and snapped two photos, drove home and then after eating looked at them and decided to share on Instagram because I really loved them both. Well a fellow photographer colleague must have also liked it because she tagged the local weather guy on Instagram (@instafreiden) as he is big into photography and loves to share photos during his broadcast. Next thing I know he is asking for permission to share it so I say sure, not reading to closely that he wanted to share it on the news. I thought he wanted to share it on his IG account. Next thing I know I am getting all these likes on his IG account and his Facebook account as well (yes he shared there too). The photo he shared had a little viral (very little) moment. Hundreds of likes on both his pages and he showed it and talked about it on the news.
I will say it was kinda flattering to have so many people like it and comment on it and then to have co-workers mention they saw it on the morning show :). Probably never going to happen again so I enjoyed my moment of fame and now will go back to just lurking in the woods and country roads looking for the next shot LOL
The tree image at the top is the one which was shared, the image below is what I stopped to photograph.
