RV Road Trip To The Smoky's - Cades Cove

Finally finding some time to get caught up with things including editing the remainder of our spring trip to the Smoky Mountains.

In this video we head to Cades Cove which was just as beautiful and amazing as we had been told by so many it would be. Definitely a place we will visit every time we head back to the Great Smoky Mountains. Hope you enjoy watching.

Family Pool Party

To celebrate Guy's birthday we decided to host a family pool party. Instead of me behind the camera all day I instead handed the camera to Jameson (age 4 1/2) and let him go for it. Sure some of the pictures have fingers in them but that is half the fun. Not sure who captured the photos with him in them but so glad they were able to get him having fun too.

We're Starting A Tradition Here

For the 2nd year in a row we had a day at the ballpark with Avery. I am 100% sure Avery could care less about the baseball game at this is all about the popcorn, ice cream, a present from Grandpa of some sort and Nutasha and Nutsy.

Last year the Flying Squirrel's mascots sent Avery into tears, this year she searched them out, wanted to give them high fives and was sad she didn't get to give them a hug goodbye (at least that is what she told me on the way home).

These days with her are so precious and I remind myself short-lived as she is growing so fast so we do all we can to create lasting memories with her. I can't wait until Benjamin is old enough to start creating them with him as well.

What Do I Do With All This Energy?

I have been a ball of pent up energy the last week or so. I just can't seem to sit still for longer than a few moments, calm down - I always feel revved up, relax on the couch - not happening, sleep - what is that? etc.

I have tried all the things you hear will work like exercise, warm teas, essential oils, a day just lounging in the pool, walks, cleaning out closets, etc. and so far this is the only thing that is even remotely starting to help...

Digital coloring. Using the iPad Pro, Apple Pencil and a app called Animal Coloring I have been rocking through these the last few days While nothing seems to work 100% I do find myself drifting into a land of no thoughts and lost in the colors which just what I need. It's helping me relax a little bit and I certainly need that. I know it will just take time for me to find my new normal, my new world without mom and I am trying to get back into things going out, seeing friends, etc. and if this helps me get there, why not :)

Our Day on Lake Gaston

img_5457.jpg

Originally we were heading out for a long holiday weekend of camping but due to the events of the past few weeks I decided I wanted to stay at home for the earlier part of the weekend so from Wed - Friday that is exactly what we did. We stayed home, cleaned out closets, cleaned carpets and enjoyed the pool.

Saturday though we had promised to visit friends who own a home on Lake Gaston (on the Virginia/NC border) and Guy thought it was best for me to get out of the house and do something different so early Saturday morning we headed to the Lake. It is just a three hour drive and holiday traffic was our friend so no delays were to be had and after stopping for a quick breakfast we arrived to a beautiful day, beautiful home and beautiful lakefront to enjoy for the next day and half.

We had a fantastic time just watching the kids (and a few adults) enjoy all the water toys while we caught up, had some drinks, enjoyed the fantastic sunny weather and just relaxed. We also were taking out for a boat ride (video below) to see the lake as I had never been there before. Anyone who knows me knows that boating is one of my favorite things and I would do it every weekend if possible so I jumped on the chance to go for the ride.  I was not disappointed :)
