Pool Project #3

Now that the deck is done it was time to connect the two decks to each other, the house and the pool.We decided to go for a simple pea gravel base with stone framing and pavers for the steps. First we measured and marked the area and then we (and when I say we I mean Guy) removed all the grassNext we started laying the stones
The final look (until the fall when we take on ripping out the yard and replanting the entire thing).

Pool Project #2

Now that the pool has been installed it is time to layout and start the deck.  After numerous conversations on design, size and location we finally decided on all three and spent last weekend digging the post holes
Almost done..Wew have to design and build the gate and get the lattice installed but we are getting there. That will be part of project #3 :)

Just A Little Yard Work He Said

and then we looked at the list of all we needed to get done in the yard (we didn't landscape last spring due to Guy's knee surgery) and so I told my boss if it didn't rain he would see me in a week and we came up with a plan. Our goal was to get shrubs planted to the left of the front stairs, more along the driveway side of the house and plant the 8 rose bushes I wanted on the far side of the house.  I also wanted to get most if not all the planters full with flowers and to finally get the well area looking pretty instead of just a ugly area.We also needed to get the pool full with water, all the rocks and sticks that were uprooted where the pool was installed removed so we can be ready for the deck building.  Driveway needed repairs to the gravel and there were also several small projects inside we wanted to try and tackle. So how did we do?Front Shrubs - CheckSide Shrubs - CheckRose bushes - Check
Pool full and ready for the deck -  CheckDriveway - Check (no pictures of that)It was a lot of work, messy, hot and sweaty and overall it was a successful! We managed to get most everything on the list done, I  loved being home spending time with Guy and the yard looks great if I do say so myself.

Snow Day Saturday

Winter came into 2017 with both barrels drawn dropping 9" of snow on us during the first Saturday of 2017.I had filled the bird feeders the night before and they were used all day by dozens and dozens of birds of all types.  I watched (and took photos) of them for a long part of the afternoon. It's one of my favorite things to do and so relaxing.  Here are some of the birds at the feeders:and some of my photos:
Still hate winter :)
